Celebrate ‘Pride at Sea’ with Celebrity Cruises

Pride at Sea

Share the Love

When you’re on the ocean, every day is a party. But when you’re on a Celebrity Cruises ship, every day is a Pride party. For years, Celebrity Cruises has been embracing the LGBTQ community. They have gone above and beyond to create an inclusive environment for their employees and customers. Find out more about Pride at Sea, and how Celebrity Cruises adds a touch of rainbow to LGBTQ travel.

A History of Inclusivity

At Celebrity Cruises, supporting the LGBTQ community isn’t just about jumping on board with a trend. In fact, the company has supported diversity for years. In early 2018, Celebrity Equinox hosted the first legal same sex marriage at sea. The event was so special that staff members still talk about it today. To date, there have been many more legal weddings onboard Celebrity ships.

As Regional Marketing Manager Alexandra Whitesell, likes to say, “We have walked the walk for a really long time.” From having same-sex marriages on their ships to providing support services to LGBTQ staff members, the company proudly waves its rainbow flag.

In 2016, the company was declared LGBTQ+ Friendly Travel Company of the year by TTG Travel Awards. And in 2019, Celebrity won the title of Best Large Ship Cruise Line for LGBTQ+ Passengers at the Cruizie Awards.

Based in Miami, the Celebrity brand takes an active role in Miami Beach Pride. The company is a sponsor of the large pride event and has been involved with the event for several years.

Pride Party at Sea

No matter when you cruise on a Celebrity ship, LGBTQ travelers are welcomed with open arms. But for an even gayer travel experience, book a Celebrity cruise in June. The month of Pride festivities kicks off on June 4th with Pride Party at Sea Flagship, Celebrity Edge®. This year marks the fourth year of this event. After the first voyage, the rest of the fleet continues the Celebration, with each ship “handing off the party baton” to the next to keep the festivities running across hemispheres and time zones.

During Pride at Sea, no one is excluded. All guests on any Celebrity cruise ship are invited to the LGBTQ-themed events. Staff members and the officers join in on the fun, too. For the entire month, every cruise ship that sails has its own Pride at Sea celebration.

The cruises don’t only depart from the U.S. Whether you want to stay close to home or head to Italy, you can find a Celebrity ship that has a party for you. The destination matters, but the journey is just as fun.

Celebrate Pride with Celebrity Cruises All Year Long

It’s difficult finding travel opportunities that cater to the LGBTQ crowd. Although there are Pride events in cities throughout many countries, they aren’t quite as festive as a seven-night party on a ship. Celebrity offers a unique opportunity to make your entire vacation one of inclusion.

Gone are the days when you had to leave your Pride in the stateroom closet. The next time you want to embark on LGBTQ travel, check out one of Celebrity’s ships. If you book during Pride month, you can celebrate Pride for days.
