Ah, Key West, where dining under the stars with a side of an evening breeze and the soft lapping sounds of the ocean, feels like nothing short of heaven. From waterfront tables and intimate garden spots, to spacious porches and patios, outdoor dining in Key West captures the true essence of island life. Menus emphasize fresh, local seafood that tastes like it jumped right from the ocean, into the chef’s kitchen, and onto your plate. Here, the combination of good food and the night sky create an amazing setting for dining under the night sky. Read on to discover some of Key West’s best outdoor restaurants that you definitely want to put on your list of where to eat.

Mangoes

700 Duval Street

Serving some of the finest Caribbean food in Key West, Mangoes has been a Key West tradition for more than forty years. Not a fan of Caribbean flavors? No worries, Mangoes also has a selection of classic American dishes from which to choose. Enjoy dinner, cocktails, and live music in the courtyard lounge, or people watch from their Duval Street seating. Be sure to save room for dessert, as their key lime pie is one of the best in Key West

La Te Da

1125 Duval Street

La Te Da isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience! This historic Key West establishment combines a boutique hotel, a cabaret, and a delicious dining spot all in one. The restaurant’s outdoor terrace, surrounded by swaying palms, creates an amazing backdrop for your meal. It’s an al fresco, tropical, casual, fine dining experience under the stars. And, if you’ve got nothing going on after your meal, hang out in the piano bar, or maybe see one of the best shows in Key West in their Crystal Room.

Oasis Mediterranean Cuisine

1019 White Street

A mix of Mediterranean and Central Asian dishes are on the menu at Oasis Mediterranean Cuisine. Serving up kebabs, soups, and salads, along with sandwiches and wraps, they also hand-toss New York style pizza. And, you must-try khachapuri that’s oozing with cheese and egg. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but trust us, the deliciousness of the food and its outdoor seating area make Oasis a must-do for dinner.

Salute! On the Beach

1000 Atlantic Boulevard

Can’t get enough of the beach? Salute! On the Beach, located on Higgs Beach between the White Street Pier and Casa Marina is where you want to dine. This beachside bistro serves classic Italian dishes with a light Caribbean twist, using local seafood and fresh vegetables. As the sister restaurant of Blue Heaven, (we’ll get to that in a minute) it’s simply great food, great views, and awesome drinks. And, you’re just steps away from a moonlight walk on the beach.

Blue Heaven

729 Thomas Street

If there’s ever a must-go place to dine in Key West, Blue Heaven may very well be that place. Located in the heart of Bahama Village, Blue Heaven oozes island charm. Their outdoor courtyard, with canopies of lush vegetation and funky artwork décor, is casual dining at its best. With live entertainment along with their American, Caribbean and vegetarian cuisines, Blue Heaven is the quintessential Key West dining experience. Oh, and their key lime pie – it’s legendary!

Moondog Cafe & Bakery

823 Whitehead Street

Right next door to the Hemingway House is the Moondog Cafe & Bakery. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s the lighted, dog-friendly porch that creates the ambiance for this renovation of the Key West House. Go for happy hour and stay for dinner, where you can enjoy an extensive menu including vegan and vegetarian options. Be sure to save room for dessert, you can’t go wrong with any of their sweet treats.

Seaside Cafe at the Mansion

1400 Duval Street

On the quiet end of Duval Street, away from the action that is Key West, is the Seaside Cafe at the Mansion. Feel your toes in the sand as you wind your way through blue and yellow umbrellas to your table on the concrete patio. If you’re a pizza lover as we are, choose from a half dozen artisan wood-fired pies. We suggest the lobster pizza. All we can say is OMG! And, of course, at the Seaside Cafe, the night sky is the highlight for your viewing pleasure.

Dining Out in Key West on a Starry Starry Night

There’s something magical about Key West especially after the sun sets. It’s then that you’re presented with the opportunity to dine under the night sky and its stars. Whether it’s on a beachfront deck or a lighted porch or patio overlooking its historic streets, these moments capture the essence of Key West’s laid-back lifestyle. It’s where tropical ambiance meets delicious food, making dinner not just a meal, but a memorable part of your Key West adventure.
