In honor of PRIDE Month (June 2023), History Fort Lauderdale presents “Take PRIDE! A Retrospective of LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

The multimedia exhibit, located near Swarovski, between Macy’s and Dillard’s, will include over 100 historical photographs plus videos and costumes chronicling the growth, awareness and struggle of the LGBTQ community through the years. Photos will capture the liberation movement of the 1960s and ‘70s, the activism and rise of PRIDE parades and human rights rallies and the proliferation of gay-centric world-famous business endeavors including the Marlin Beach Hotel, The Copa and Backstreet.

A Photo Tribute Wall will feature lifestyle and significant event photos from Michael Murphy Photography. In addition, the exhibit will include the showing of “Open Dialogues,” an award-winning short film which captures the personal narratives of LGBTQ voices, produced by Art and Culture Center Hollywood, directed by Miami-based filmmaker Freddy Rodriguez and funded by Community Foundation of Broward.

Additional contributions to the exhibit are courtesy of Stonewall National Museum and Archives, World AIDS Museum and Educational Center, History Miami, Wilton Manors Historical Society, and Key West Art & Historical Society.

Since 2017, our all-inclusive annual festival draws thousands of people together to celebrate the unity and diversity of the LGBT community and to promote equal rights for all.

RISE – RESIST – PERSIST

Naples Pride celebrates diversity and unity, educates the community on LGBTQ issues and promotes equal rights for all. This all-inclusive, family-friendly and open to the public event will combine entertainers, speakers, musicians, performers, vendors, exhibitors, kids activities, food & drink for a day of fun and celebration. 

Widespread community involvement and support have made Naples Pride Fest, a resounding success with over 5,000 attendees every year.

Funds raised during the event will support Naples Pride in its ongoing efforts and provide much needed funding to continue the lifesaving services at the Naples Pride Center including health & wellness services, LGBTQ+ safe resources, a safe community space, suicide prevention resources, youth and senior programs and much, much more.

In the event of unsafe weather conditions, you will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

TURNABOUT PRIDE PARTY! 

A “turnabout” is when non-drag performers are encouraged to put on a wig and strut their stuff!
Nikita Dawn will be hosting her friends for a FUNdraising drag show, heavy on the FUN, to help raise money for the SMART ride.

All tips will be donated to Nikita Dawn’s SMART Ride Team ActiveHeartsOfLove (AHoLs). Their event goal this year is $2,000. So, bring those dollars and let’s have a gay ole time raising money for an amazing local cause.

There will be a Live DJ from 1-4pm, with showtime is 2PM. Donations can be made via tips or via raffle tickets!

Join us for Pride Prom on Saturday, June 10 at the Orlando Museum of Art from 6-10 pm. The prom is open to LGBTQ+ youth ages 14-20. The theme is “Old Hollywood, The Golden Age,” the dress code is semi-formal to formal and all forms of gender expression are welcomed. Youth under age 18 are required to submit a parental consent form, which will be sent upon registration.

There is a suggestion donation of $15 to help us offset the cost of hosting Pride Prom. While this is not required to register, we appreciate your support for Zebra Youth and look forward to dancing the night away on June 10!

St. Pete’s Art Lofts celebrates Pride month with a solo exhibit by queer artist John Gascot. The show debuts a brand-new body of work titled “Sweet Boys”. Gascot describes the collection as a “Way to speak on the current anti-drag anti-LGBTQ political climate with wit and humor.” The works feature images of drag queens, men in women’s vintage-style swimwear and roles traditionally and stereotypically reserved for females. The paintings burst with color and tongue-in-cheek imagery. The artist will donate 25% of sales to the ACLU Drag Defense Fund.

The LGBTQ+ Amazing Race Challenge is a one-day event that combines the excitement of the hit TV show with the spirit of the LGBTQ+ community

The LGBTQ+ Amazing Race Challenge is a one-day event that combines the excitement of the hit TV show with the spirit of the LGBTQ+ community. Form a team of two, compete in a series of challenges and roadblocks to test your mental and physical abilities.

The challenges will take place at various local landmarks, shops, and businesses, with a focus on those owned or operated by LGBTQ+ individuals. Roadblocks and challenges will be LGBTQ+ themed requiring teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and explore LGBTQ+ history and culture.

In addition, show your team spirit and unleash your creativity to transform into your team’s alter-ego. Make sure you’re able to still walk, run, bike, and scoot around St Pete to gather clues to the finish line!

At the end of the day, the winning team will be announced at a celebratory party at a local LGBTQ+ bar (TBD)

During Pride Month at Vizcaya Late we celebrate the work of LGBTQ+ people and allies to ensure equal rights under the law. Local musicians from the French Horn Collective will be performing live on theEast Terrace. Vizcaya educators will provide you with materials and guidance for making banners and flowers for our very own Pride Parade through the gardens, led by a New Orleans-style second line band! Vizcaya’s Cafe will have light bites and refreshments for purchase to enjoy by the bay or in the gardens.

Make sure you come dressed in your Pride Parade gear, and wear comfortable shoes to join in the parade, starting at 7:45 p.m., through the formal gardens!

Once a month, Vizcaya offers the community a chance to enjoy the estate during extended evening hours. Visitors can explore the Main House and stroll 10 acres of waterfront gardens with family and friends for a mid-week wind-down! The theme changes each month with activities to match, so you can keep coming back for new and exciting ways to enjoy Vizcaya.
