If you’re looking for the best place to live in Florida, you may want to consider moving to Sarasota. According to the Herald Tribune, U.S. News & World Report ranked Sarasota higher than every other city in Florida. It also ranked the city within the top 125 cities in the United States.

In fact, the city ranked 18th in the country. When determining ranking, U.S News used five indexes. The indexes had the highest potential score of 10. They included all of the following:

  • Desirability
  • Value
  • Job market
  • Quality of life
  • Net migration

Overall, Sarasota had a score of 7. For quality of life, it had a high score of 7.4. However, the value score dropped the overall score. The city only received a 5.7 for value. This is likely due to the somewhat high cost of living.

According to the publication, the warm climate, great beaches, and rich culture of the area contributed to the high ranking. But it’s not all positive. The publication also explained that the city was experiencing difficulty handling the rapid growth of the population.

There were several other notable Southwest Florida cities on the list. Fort Myers was at 35 and Tampa was at 56. For those looking for a great place to live, Southwest Florida could be an option.
